Girls’ Lacrosse – JV

The JV Girls’ Lacrosse team serves as the developmental component of a growing girls lacrosse program at Derryfield. The JV team offers players new to the sport and those with limited experience to learn the fundamental skills and strategies of the game at an appropriate pace. Practices provide time for individual and team instruction to allow players to develop a solid foundation of lacrosse with an emphasis on stick skills leading up to team offense and team defense tactics. While the JV team works independently and has its own game schedule so that players get ample time on the field and game experience, they also join the varsity practices regularly for drills and scrimmages to encourage competition and increase confidence. The entire girls’ lacrosse program is built upon the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, commitment, self-discipline, perseverance and leadership and players on both teams are held to these same standards. Our goal is for each player to have had a meaningful athletic experience and to have developed a respect and, our hope, a love for lacrosse.
