The Derryfield School has launched the process of creating a new strategic plan. The first meeting of the Strategic Plan Working Group took place on August 19. The group includes nearly forty members of the school community, representing multiple constituencies, including; faculty and staff, students, alumni, current and past parents, and members of the Derryfield Board of Trustees.
In a schedule that stretches from the fall of 2024 through the winter of 2025, the Strategic Plan Working group will meet four times. During the same period there will be focus group meetings with numerous members of the Derryfield community, to assure that many voices are heard. The timeline calls for the strategic plan to be finalized by early spring, with adoption at the May meeting of the Derryfield Board of Trustees.
The Futures Collaborative, a consulting group based in Dover, New Hampshire, is helping Derryfield to navigate the strategic planning process. Founder Steven Brown says his firm aims to, “Help organizations, communities, and individuals understand, embrace, and work with the uncertainties of a rapidly changing world. The goal is to build collective capacity to create a future in which all can thrive.”
The previous strategic plan, which commenced in 2014, concluded in June 2024. Significant achievements include a Master Facilities Plan, which initiated the construction of many new facilities, including the Athletic & Wellness Center and the Matarese Dining Commons.
