Grace Howe ’28 was honored at the second annual New Bedford Film Festival for her entry in the student film category, “This is What it Feels Like to be 15.” The festival celebrates authentic cinematic stories, cultivates bold storytellers, and champions the city’s growing creative economy. It is committed to spotlighting the diverse human experience through cinematic storytelling such as short & feature films, episodic, music videos, documentaries, and PSA shorts. This year the festival received over 220 entries.

Howe submitted her film on January 15, and was notified on March 15 she had been selected as one of four finalists in the student category. After learning on April 14 that her production was the winner of the Best Student Film, she expressed her surprise and thrill, “This is insane. I’m only fifteen so I am just getting started, but I love film so much.”

The aspiring film maker’s next stop is Austin, where she will participate in the Creator CAMP Film Fest, a two-day event that celebrates independent filmmakers, artists, and storytellers and bills itself as “an ecosystem built to support the next generation of storytelling.”
