Becky Barsi, Lyceum Gallery manager

The Derryfield School Lyceum Gallery is proud to announce Connecting Cultures Through
Art and Words
, a moving exhibition that celebrates the rich tapestry of immigrant and refugee
experiences in New Hampshire. In collaboration with New Hampshire photographer Becky Field, this exhibition brings together an array of visual art, written works, and performances that
illuminate the personal narratives shaping our community.

Opening on February 18, 2025, and running through March 31, 2025, Connecting Cultures
Through Art and Words
invites visitors to explore the unique stories and perspectives of New
Hampshire’s immigrant and refugee population. Through a captivating blend of ceramic work by
Boyan Moskov, paintings by Jozimar Matimano and Segun Olorunfemi, poetry by “Antony”,
and recorded performances by Sindy Chown and Shyam Nepali, the exhibition offers a
multifaceted view of the immigrant experience.

This exhibition goes beyond traditional art displays by emphasizing the power of storytelling and
personal narrative. Each piece serves as a window into the artists’ lives, showcasing their
journeys, challenges, and triumphs. By presenting these stories through various artistic
mediums, the exhibition creates an immersive experience that fosters empathy, understanding,
and appreciation for the diverse cultural backgrounds that enrich our state.

Connecting Cultures Through Art and Words aims to bridge gaps and build connections within
our community. It highlights the invaluable contributions of immigrants and refugees to New
Hampshire’s cultural landscape, encouraging visitors to reflect on the shared human
experiences that unite us all.

The public is cordially invited to attend the opening reception on February 21, 2025, from 5:30
PM to 7:00 PM at the Derryfield School Lyceum Gallery, located at 2108 River Rd., Manchester. This event provides a unique opportunity to meet the artists, engage with their works, and participate in a celebration of cultural diversity.
