Middle School Athletics
A Home for Everyone
Whether you are an elite or aspiring athlete or simply interested in trying a new sport, we have you covered! The Derryfield middle school athletics program focuses on achievement, individually and as part of a team. Our safe and welcoming culture allows middle school athletes at all levels to reach their personal best. Mastering rules and techniques of team sports, developing personal integrity, and understanding that winning void of sportsmanship is no longer a “win” are all guiding philosophies of the middle school athletic experience.

Alternatives
Another option for middle school students is the Independent Physical Activity (IPA) contract, which allows students to design an activity program under the supervision of the Athletic Director and their advisor. The IPA is designed to accommodate the middle school student who is involved in a physical/athletic activity not offered by the school. Middle school students wishing to pursue an IPA must submit an application for approval to the Director of Athletics.
Through our L.E.A.D. curriculum, students explore the brain body connection in an integrated unit on healthy lifestyle choices and body systems, and are introduced to the state-of-the-art cardio and strength & conditioning rooms in our Athletic and Wellness Center. Students take away different coping strategies for managing stress, and explore a growth mindset.
